Around 11.6 million pensioners should have started to receive up to an extra £300 on top of the existing £300 winter fuel payment from Weds 23rd November. The money is due to appear on pensioners bank statements with the reference as your National Insurance number followed by “DWP WFP”.
Amazingly I discovered a £250 payment into my account on 2nd December. Low income households already receiving Pension Credit will be receiving about £3,500 a year extra. If you discover that you are eligible for the Pension Credit (but are not yet receiving it) you will need to make a claim by Sunday 18th December to receive the latest extra £324 lump sum.
