Sadly one of The Geezers original members, Dougie Carnegie passed away on Tuesday evening.
Doug was born in Dagenham in 1932. He was married to Shirley for 67 years and had two daughters. seven grandchildren and many great grandchildren
Anyone who knew Doug will not have escaped from his funny stories of his National Service in Egypt. He may have impressed you with the words of Arabic he picked up but what you probably didn’t know was that he won a campaign medal during the Suez crisis.
Doug had a wonderful sense of humour and as a lifelong Spurs supporter it came in handy. When younger he played football on Hackney Marshes in a team known as The Outcasts.
My lasting memory of Doug will be visiting him last Sunday evening, we had a Solero ice lolly each and watched Spurs score a couple of goals. I passed him my phone and he spoke with Shirley telling her that he loved her.

I remember what a joyous lovely man he was.
Such a kind gentleman with a cheeky smile.
Always upstanding and graceful.
Always kind to me whenever our paths crossed.
May he rest in peace.
