This weekend the Friends of the Island History Trust will have an exhibition at The Forge, Craft Central, 397-411 Westferry Road, E14 3AE on Sat 22nd & Sun 23rd Sept 2018, as part of the London Open House Weekend. Entry is free and it’s open both days 10am to 9pm. Head west from Island Gardens DLR. There’s also an exhibition of glass art at The Forge.
It was from the edge of the Thames here (top photo) that Brunel’s ambitious steamship, the Great Eastern was (eventually) launched. Expect some amazing history associated with the building itself.
