National Portrait Gallery closure for redevelopment

I’ve always enjoyed the Portrait Gallery, which is located on the Charing Cross Road, just behind the National Gallery. Most of it is free, so you can just wander in. They are currently offering £5 tickets to see their special exhibitions. These are for concessions and over 60s Mon – Weds 10-11am. This a big price reduction.

The National Portrait Gallery has recently won a £9.4 million of National Lottery funding to refurbish their galleries. This will start in July 2020 and the gallery will be closed until 2023. Visit while you can.

Sheila Kelly took photos and filmed the short video above of the fireworks in Victoria Park last Sunday. She said: “The fireworks were spectacular especially when the big spaceship took off. The theme was the moon landings. I go every year and I’ve never seen it as busy and popular as this. There were loads of young people and families with kids. The stewards did a great job of crowd control. I look forward to next year!”
