  1. Hi Jackie the officer you mentioned was my grandfather Ernest Quilter who was District Officer at Bow Fire Station before the war and then during the blitz. I heard the woolworths story before from a wonderful old fireman called David who I visited around 1996 and had a long chat with . Send me an email to compare notes if you wish.   2. Hallo, I’m sure that many of you know about the firemen who died when Old Palace school, Bow was bombed. Over 20 men and ladies lost their lives. They were from Beckenham and their graves are in 2 Southn East, London, cemeteries, close to where I now live I have visited both cemeteries. Willing to share information. Alex
