Does anybody have old photos of the original Ordell Road Estate?

Richard Read wrote in from Wales to say:

“For a number of years I’ve been trying to find some pictures of the old Ordell Road estate that was eventually knocked down to make way for the accommodation now on the site. I grew up there from 1977 to 1986 and would really appreciate if anyone was able to direct me to old photos (or information) that document this era (or just before and after).

“These days I live in Wales and don’t have access to local libraries etc which might have useful archives. I’d like this for my own interest, but also for my parents who are in their 70’s and very keen to revisit images and information from their past.”

Like Richard I checked online and in the Bow London E3, The Real East Enders Facebook group, but could only find old pictures of the pub.

If anyone would like to send in any photos or memories I could publish a tribute article to the earlier Ordell Road Estate (Tredegar Estate).

Update

I did visit the Borough Archives in Bancroft Road, but couldn’t find any details of photos.

  1. Hi Richard. Thank you for your comments on where you lived on the old Tredegar Estate, that included Ordell Rd. I, like a lot of people I know, lived there as well. I will make some inquires when we have our next Club meeting to try and get some photos of the estate before its demolition. So keep on logging into our web-site. OurBow.com.
