 Kate Garner’s Vintage Songbook

Songs & Stories at the piano with the daughter of Chas from “Chas & Dave”

Join Kate Garner, daughter of the legendary Chas Hodges of ‘Chas & Dave’ at the piano, as she sings the songs that have defined her life, with tales from her childhood on the road with her dad, travelling everywhere from Margate to Melbourne to her own successful career as a singer & songwriter.

Kate Garner’s Vintage Songbook features gems such as’, ‘‘Daisy Bell” ’’Auntie Skinner’s Chicken Dinner’’ “Keep The Homefires Burning” and her favourite Chas & Dave song!

Hear the traditional folk and Music Hall songs Kate sang at family parties growing up in a musical London family, parlour songs she learned from the pianola, and the vintage classics she first heard on the gramophone that her dad bought her at a flea market when she was 12!

Kate will share photos from her family album and tell the fascinating stories behind the vintage songs, as well as performing some of her own music inspired by the great writers from the past.  Plus there’s the chance for everyone to join in for a singalong too!

Kate has written and presented her own TV series called ‘The Stories Behind The Songs’ which was nominated for a TV Choice Award. Kate was recently the guest of Jools Holland on his BBC radio show and played live on BBC Radio 2’s ‘D-Day 80 Concert’.

Kate will be playing at The Tredegar Community Hall on Friday 15th of May at 7.30pm.

The event is sponsored by Clarion Housing and The Geezers Club.

Tea coffee and sandwiches will be available.
