This winter is going to be a particularly tough time for many vulnerable local residents as the cost of living increases, with huge rises in food and energy bills.
Bow and Bethnal Green Foodbanks have had a very challenging 18 months, and over 300 volunteers from the local community rose to the challenge and were able to support everyone who turned to the foodbank for help during the pandemic crisis. At one point they were serving over 1200 people every week. An extremely committed team of volunteers were on hand to help with packing bags, serving clients, sorting food donations and many other behind-the-scenes tasks.
The number of people using the foodbank remains incredibly high, with between 650 and 750 visitors across the two foodbanks each week.
£100K will help the charity to buy food stocks for the next four months and provide every family with an extra treat bag in the week leading up to Christmas.
