The Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park

The Friends, a team of three members of staff, receive support from a dedicated board of trustees and 3,000 volunteers in order to manage and conserve the Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park, London’s most urban woodland and Tower Hamlets only dedicated woodland Park. The site supports an incredible variety of trees, plants, birds, bats, beetles and butterflies, and is a little piece of countryside right in the city! Bow Beasties is a free wildlife club run by the Friends for families who live in Tower Hamlets. Children have the chance to take part in a variety of outdoor activities amongst the woodland setting, from bird watching through to tree climbing, with the main aim being to connect them with nature and the outdoor world.
HOW WILL YOU USE THIS PRIZE?
We will use the prize money to improve our store of child friendly outdoor play clothing and equipment. This will mean that even more Tower Hamlets children will be able to enjoy outdoor activities in all weathers. We would like to purchase wellies, gloves, waterproof trousers and jackets plus a kelly kettle (so we can make yummy hot chocolate in the woodland!).
